The Red Circus

Classified as a national natural heritage and now protected, the Cirque Rouge du Grand Pavois is half an hour (by light car) from the city center. Resulting from the intensive erosion of alternating layers of sandstone in multiple colors (pastel green and pink, ochre, bright yellow and sanguine), this circus presents fantastic lunar landscapes, especially at sunset. Fairy chimneys, silicified woods, springs and shallows overgrown with traveler's trees (Ravenala madagascariensis) complete the spectacle offered by this natural amphitheater which contains sacred and precious places (medicinal plants).
